Lowmac
Alloys Limited was founded in 1974 and started
trading as a scrap metal merchant in the old Ayr Foundry, Green
Street, Ayr. In 1981 Alex Smith Metals bought over the Company
and between the two Companies the first emergence of waste management
began to enfold with the introduction of skip hire for household,
commerce and industrial waste.

With the introduction of the Environmental Protection Act 1990
and the subsequent Waste Management Licensing Regulations 1994
, Lowmac Alloys Ltd opened a new site in Irvine to facilitate
the expanding growth in the environmental market.
Lowmac now operate a large site at Irvine, incorporating ferrous
and
non-ferrous recycling, green waste processing, wood recycling,
general waste recycling and the re-use of all types of soils and
rubble.
The site is managed by the following personnel:
